Calling All Alzheimer’s Family Caregivers

Are you a family caregiver for someone with Alzheimer’s or dementia?  Do you want to connect with local resources, get caregiving tips, and learn practical information?

If so, you may be interested in attending the upcoming 6th annual Caregiver’s Journey Conference on Thursday, March 31, 2016. Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association, the event is free for family caregivers and persons with the disease and respite is available to enable caregivers to attend.

Our firm’s own Mark Heffner will be presenting a session on Legal and Financial Considerations of Alzheimer’s Disease. Other session highlights include:

  • Be an empowered caregiver: know the state and federally funded programs to keep a loved one in their home
  • When home is no longer an option
  • Communication and Alzheimer’s: walk that fine line
  • Depression in dementia: how to assess and when to intervene
  • Avoiding re-admission into the hospital
  • and many more sessions

A yoga session, a continental breakfast, lunch, keynote addresses and workshops are all included.

There is also a day program for loved ones with dementia whose caregivers want to attend the conference. Day program participants will have breakfast and lunch with conference attendees, and spend the rest of the day doing fun activities under trained supervision.

There is no fee for family caregivers or people living with the disease to attend; registration must be completed by March 21, 2016. Early registration is recommended as space is limited for both the conference and day program.

See the conference brochure for all the details and the registration form.
