Free Conference for Alzheimer’s Family Caregivers

If you care for someone with Alzheimer’s, you know that caregivers need support, too. You might be interested to know about the 5th Annual “Caregiver’s Journey Conference“, coming up on March 5th. This conference is free for family caregivers.

The conference includes presentations, panels, and a keynote address by Dr. Sid O’Bryant, a world-renowned Alzheimer’s researcher. Here’s a (very small) sample of some of the 21 session topics:

  • When Home is No Longer an Option
  • Can We Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease Through Dietary Changes or use of Supplements?
  • Be an Empowered Caregiver – Know the State and Federally Funded Programs to Keep a Loved One in their Home
  • Recognizing Elderly Fraud and Preventing Exploitation of the Elderly
  • Family Caregiving: Challenges, Supports, and Resources
  • Driving Safety – When is is Time to Turn over the Keys?
  • Yoga as a Coping Strategy for Stress
  • Support – Keep your Eyes and Ears Open… It’s there!
  • Approaches to Manage Agitation in Patients with Alzheimer’s disease

Mark Heffner (who volunteers regularly with the Rhode Island Alzheimer’s Association) is pleased to be taking part as a presenter as well, speaking on the Legal & Financial Aspects of Alzheimer’s, and also as a panelist in the discussion “Alzheimer’s Matters: Let’s Talk About It”.

There is also a Day Program available to provide care and activities for loved ones with Alzheimer’s at the conference, so that attendees who don’t have caregiving relief may attend.
